White collar boxing event

A loooong time ago, in one of the very first posts, I told you about an exciting event that Urban Icon was sponsoring:

Urban Icon sponsor white-collar Boxing Event!

Q. What is it?

A.  A charity event to raise money for the Lewis Paul Mighty fund. White-collar workers train for 8 weeks and then box for 3 x 2 minute rounds in a black tie event at SYN nightclub in Derby on the 19th December.

Q. Why?

A. Lewis is a 5 year old boy who suffers from a rare form of cancer (stage 4 High Risk Neuroblastoma) which mainly targets under 5s. The immunotherapy treatment is not available in Europe and Lewis’s best chance of survival is to receive immunotherapy treatment at a cancer clinic in New York City. £215,00 has already been raised and the target is £300,000. To find out more, see the funkyclubfitness page on Facebook.

Our accounts manager, Ben Waring, went along to this fun event - as a VIP no less! The support for Lewis was fantastic, with over 1000  people attending. Ben told me: "The fights were amazing - all in the aid of charity, with lots of stylists and salon owners attending." Judging by the pictures he sent, I think he thought the ring side girls were pretty amazing too!

The event took place on the Sunday before Christmas. Well done to all - everyone gave it 100%, taking part wholeheartedly.
